I'm starting to think video games are better for kids, between those two, though I'd rather he just play with his toys or run around outside.
I just read this article: http://www.jakepcw.com/muyuubyou/?p=595Which is better for children, watching Spongebob on TV or playing Nick Jr. video games online?
At least video games keep their brain moving. V-smile, leap pad, nick Jr. Are all good. But my daughters 3rd grade teacher introduced us to www.mathcats.com and my 8 year old loves it because she is on the computer. and I love it because she's doing math. Not gazing motionlessly at the TV.
whats wrong with Spongebob?Which is better for children, watching Spongebob on TV or playing Nick Jr. video games online?
I have found that my child learns more playing games on line (check out the PBS website) than from watching TV. Personally I let her do both, but try to keep a limit on the amount of time she does either.Which is better for children, watching Spongebob on TV or playing Nick Jr. video games online?
video games kill a child's creativity!! my daughter only watches movies when she is sick and not well, or its something special, like an educational video, she loves to read and do art work. playing out doors is one of her favorite things to do, no way am i ever gonna let her sit on her but just to play video games when she can be doing other things, but yet she is only 4
all you do in a video game is kill brain cells and push buttons. Spongebob is better.
Spongebob is not a kids show, even though they advertise it to be. If you watch it, all you see is freeky, violent actions.
If the video game is age appropriate, then go for it. But, the best thing for children is having to use their imaginations.
on line games for toddlers are a lot better than tv. they help a child learn by doing and improve hand eye coordination. now that said, it MUST be done with responsibility of the parent. you must make sure it is an educational game and that he/she does not spend more than 30 min to an hour playing a day--preferably every other day. you can print out a lot of educationa; materials free for your child to do at home and you be the "teacher" and remember daily exercise.
neither are ok, the video games and tv are just going to teach them how to be lazy. I have a newborn and I play with him and interact with him with his toys. I read to him and sing.
Spongebob is horrible. Maybe he's OK for older children. I don't know how old your child is, but I never let my kids watch him. I walked in on an episode once and heard one of the characters saying he was going to boil someone in the hot oil. I didn't think that was very kid friendly and they haven't watched it since then.
Neither one. They need to develope their imaginations.
